Hormone Balancing Chocolate Recipe

As many of you know, I have been working on balancing my own hormones holistically, and it's been very successful thus far. Recently, I discovered this super simple chocolate & maca recipe with you because it's too easy not to do and (drumroll)...it's a hormone balancing recipe!  Amounts are not very scientific, you can play with how much of each ingredient you like, but the maca is what makes this magic.

Just what IS Maca? It's an herb that comes from the Andes. The sweet, somewhat chalky tasting fruit has been shown to help with insomnia, energy, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, libido, and even anxiety and depression.

The root cause all of these symptoms have in common? Low estrogen. Maca extract helps to balance cortisol, estrogen and progesterone, and regulate your natural monthly cycle, no drugs required.

You can pick up Maca extract at your local health food store in capsule, liquid, or powder form (but you'll need the powder for this recipe:). The common dose is 2,000 mg/day. If you’re not a fan of the taste, you can easily mask it with raw cocoa powder or fruit in your smoothie.

Great hormone balancing chocolate treat:

4 tb raw cacao

2 tb maca powder

3-4 tb real maple syrup (or to taste)

Combine and make into a consistency you enjoy!
